Book Review : The Thing About The Truth

by

In this humorous love story from the author of "Two-Way Street", an unlikely romance is the best sort of surprise—but the wrong secret can ruin everything. Kelsey’s not going to let one mistake ruin her life. Sure, she got kicked out of prep school and all her old friends are shutting her out. But Kelsey’s focused on her future, and she’s determined to get back on track at Concordia High.

Isaac’s been kicked out of more schools than he can count. Since his father’s a state senator, Isaac’s life is under constant scrutiny—but Concordia High’s his last stop before boarding school, so Isaac’s hoping to fly under the radar and try to stay put for a change.

When Kelsey and Isaac meet, it’s anything but love at first sight. She thinks he’s an entitled brat, and he thinks she’s a stuck-up snob. So it surprises them both when they start to fall for each other. Kelsey’s happy for the first time in months, and Isaac’s never felt this way about anyone before. But nothing’s ever completely perfect. Everyone has secrets, and Isaac and Kelsey are no exceptions. These two may have fallen hard, but there’s one thing that can ruin it all: the truth.

Aku baru habis baca buku ni so jalan cerita dia kinda still fresh dalam kepala.

Plot dia menarik, aku suka part diaorang gaduh between two schools, Concordia Prep and Concordia Public.

Watak Isaac sangatlah kelakar and spontaneous, beza sangat dengan watak hero yang selalu ditonjolkan dalam sesebuah cerita. Aku suka part bila dia cakap kat Kelsey, "I don't mind the fact that you're not virgin. I just hate it when you lied" well of course lah that not the original line tapi dia ada cakap macam tu. The writer potrays Isaac as someone yang suka go with the flow, someone yang suka buat apa yang hati dia cakap like he decides to pull off his school principal punya wig time assembly and that's one of the reason kenapa dia kena kicked out from his old private school.

While for Kelsey, she hates when someone is a liar but at the same time "I lied to you because I want to forget everything and pretend it doesn't happen in my life". Maybe bunyinya macam selfish tapi dia buat semua tu sebab tak nak any bad things happen in her relationship with Isaac and her bestfriend, Rielle. But at the end semua orang tahu kalau menipu itu akan bawak ending yang sangat menyakitkan pada semua pihak no matter how best kita tipu.

Other characters aku malas nak sentuh tapi aku tak suka Marina Ruiz, she's a slut. First time dia jumpa Isaac dia cerita kat jantan tu yang bra dia pernah tertanggal kat pantai depan khalayak umum. That sounds soooo lame and slutty. Aku tak suka bila dia mempergunakan keadaan sesuatu event untuk buat kecoh.

Overall, this book is good tapi kalau dia comes out dalam trilogy lagi best sebab scenes between Isaac and Kelsey twisted banyak sangat and we as a reader deserve to know apa yang akan diaorang lalui in the future.

Moral of the story : No matter what relationship we involve, honesty is the best policy. We might be the best liar but we never knew what's waiting for us in the future that could ruin our plans. Sometimes kenyataan itu menyakitkan tapi ianya hanyalah buat sementara waktu, just for the best untuk semua pihak. Dalam novel ni Kelsey should be glad yang Isaac boleh terima and memafkan dia. In this kind of new generation, losing our virginity sounds pretty lame but bukan semua lelaki macam Isaac boleh terima kalau awek dia takda dara. Sooo this book is highly recommended.
